The car had the eml light on when I brought it and the code was for the DPF. After changing the oil etc, I shimmied back a bit to take a look at the DPF and as expected,it was one of the two vacuum pipes that was not only perished but hanging free of the DPF altogether, another length of pipe later and all is good with the atmosphere once more :-)

In the Netherlands they are indeed considering retiring the 1.8 TDCi because tax plans for 2008 make cars without DPF much more expensive than cars with DPF. The dealers tell that it is being replaced by the 2.0 115 HP. If there would have exited a 1.8 version with DPF I'm sure that's what they would sell in stead of the 115 hp.
