The 1.0 is all Ford’s own work and has a poor reputation for longevity, later cars are supposedly better but there’s still too many cases of problems flagging up. The 1.5/1.6 is basically the old belt driven Yamaha designed Zetec Se with a turbocharger. Long lived and sweet revving it’s s good engine. I am planning to purchase a Ford Focus 1.0-litre with the Ecoboost turbocharged petrol engine.
